In an old factory in Dongyang, Zhejiang, Ms. Chen, a post-95s artisan, weaves bamboo strips with cotton thread. Her traditional bamboo basket, stripped of its roughness, now features a soft, walnut handle inlaid along its edges. The basket's body also features a unique diamond-shaped cutout, exuding a uniquely elegant Jiangnan style. Today, a growing number of young artisans like Chen Yuwei are revitalizing dormant traditional weaving techniques with a modern aesthetic.
