First attempt: Disaster scene
My first experience with knitting was a "disaster". I thought I could easily complete it by following the tutorial step by step, but the result was that the rattan was too loose and the basket was deformed, or the knot failed at the end, and the whole work was crooked and had no aesthetic appeal. After seeing my "masterpiece", my colleague couldn't help but tease: "This basket may not be good for holding things, but it is definitely qualified for making fun!"
Adjust your mindset and find skills
After failing, I decided to calm down and study the problem. It turned out that the strength should be even when knitting, the rattan needs to be soaked and softened in advance, and it is more patient to adjust when closing. So I tried again and asked colleagues in the company who are good at handwork. Under their guidance, I finally mastered basic knitting skills, such as how to fix the bottom and how to make the edges neater.
Successful moment: the first decent basket
After many practices, my third work finally had the shape of a basket! Although it is not perfect, at least it can stand steadily and can be decorated with small objects. The sense of accomplishment at that moment made me instantly forget the previous setbacks. What surprised me even more was that my colleagues praised my progress one after another. Even now, some people ask me for advice on knitting techniques and how to knit more beautifully.
Summary and experience
This learning experience at Basketgem made me understand that failure is not terrible. The key is to learn from it. Hand knitting not only trained my patience, but also made me appreciate the fun of "slow work and fine work". Now, every time I see the baskets I knit, I will think of this journey from failure to success. It makes me believe that as long as you are willing to persevere, you can slowly master even the most difficult things.
